I was born in Colombia, South America and I lived there, in the city of
Medellin until I was 10 years old. Then my family and I moved to Syracuse,
NY and lived there for 5 years while my parents were completing their Masters
and Doctorate degrees. In 1986 we went back to Medellin where I obtained
a B.A. in Sociology.
After many years working as an ESL teacher I felt
it was time for a career change. In 2005, after considering different
options like political science and musicology, I decided to study Library
Science.
Studying Library Science will hopefully help me achieve my goal of having
a very pleasant and challenging career surrounded by some things I really
love: books and knowledge.
It has been surprising and fun to realize
that most of my classmates at the Information Science Master's Program
at UAlbany
have likewise come from very different undergraduate and work experiences:
from musicians to housewives to English teachers. Taking a break from
work and going back to school has been really great and I could not have
wished
for nicer classmates, professors and staff. Hopefully, after graduating
in May of 2007, the experience of finding a job will be equally fulfilling.
